Partnering with James and his company The Maltese Film Works is an outgrowth of working together on projects for years.

Our mutual love and respect of the silent cinema brings together a joint restoration experience of some 90 years, enabling us to shepherd projects and work toward the survival of dozens of important films.

Stop Making Sense is a masterpiece. The 4K restoration screened in IMAX an absolute must see, the restoration both definitive and delicious.

Back in 1994, Beau Geste was the first silent film that I ever scored for the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra. Even projected from a battered 16mm print, it was a powerful and moving film, and the audience response propelled us on to thirty years of scoring over 150 films for small orchestra.

When James Mockoski mentioned that he was part of an effort to restore Beau Geste from the best available material, I was very excited. I knew that they had the reputation and talent required to get the various film archives to join the effort, and would assemble the surviving parts with care, skill, and historical accuracy. It truly looks gorgeous, and I am gratified that Mont Alto has been trusted with creating and recording the score.
